The Edmonton Oilers beat the Arizona Coyotes 3-2 to join NHL Pacific Division leaders the San Jose Sharks on 41 points on Wednesday night.
The Oilers led 3-0 at one stage, 02:16 into the second period, as Mark Letestu opened the scoring and then had two assists with the goals scored by Milan Lucic and Matt Hendricks.

Arizona fought back to make things interesting when Martin Hanzal cut the deficit by scoring in the second period and added a consolation through Oliver Ekman-Larsson in the closing seconds.
The Philadelphia Flyers got past the Washington Capitals thanks to a 3-2 shootout victory to stay in contention behind the Metropolitan Division pace-setters the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Rangers and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Flyers came back from being behind in the score twice thanks to Michael Raffl and Claude Giroux cancelling out the goals from Andre Burakovsky and Lars Eller.
Steve Mason was in great form for the Flyers, making 36 saves, three of which came in the shootout. He was beaten by a TJ Oshie penalty before penalties by Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds got the win.
