NFL Wrap: Panthers beat Redskins

The Carolina Panthers eased past the Washington Redskins 26-15 at the FedEx Field on Monday night.

The win has done little to right the wrongs of the Panthers season, which started with just one win from their first six outings.

Nonetheless, there was much media attention given to cornerback Josh Norman, who left the Panthers for the Redskins in April.

"It was a lot of 'Josh Norman is coming back to play us,'" defensive end Wes Horton told ESPN.

"We are used to that with the media. You guys are trying to get the big story. We were more focused on what we needed to do to win."

Cam Newton would feature in both Panthers touchdowns, throwing a 30-yard pass to Ted Ginn Jr. in the opening quarter. After a field goal from  Graham Gano in the second, Mike Tolbert's score in the third quarter would all but wrap up the game for Carolina.

The Panthers' win also ends the Redskins' hopes of reaching the playoffs.
