Wednesday is D-Day for Hartley

Dylan Hartley’s Six Nations fate will be known on Wednesday when he appears before an independent hearing for a stiff-arm tackle on Sean O’Brien.

Hartley was sent off in Northampton's Champions Cup defeat to Leinster and now face the risk of receiving a lengthy ban, which could rule him out of the Six Nations and cost him the England captaincy.

O'Brien failed a head injury assessment after being struck from behind by the blow from England's captain, who had only been on the pitch for six minutes as a second-half replacement.

No details of the charge against Hartley has been made public, but a ban of eight weeks or more would rule him out of the start of the Six Nations.
