The former Lille defender is reported to have rejected a move to Anfield in favour of a move to Turkey, where he signed a four-year deal on Wednesday.
His performances for Lille had seen him linked with a summer move to Merseyside – a move which Kjaer admitted would have pleased his family.
“It’s not a secret that my family are Liverpool fans, and a move to Liverpool would make my family happy,??? he told French newspaper Le Figaro.
Despite this, the 26-year-old appears to have turned down the chance to move to Anfield, and has launched a scathing assessment of the club???s title-winning credentials.
“Liverpool wanted me, but I want championships, I want to win trophies,??? he told Turkish newspaper Haberturk.
???Fenerbahce’s goals this season are big, and it was explained to me very well.”
