England have been a side transformed since the debacle of the World Cup, scoring more than 300 in four successive ODIs for the first time in their history and with the series level at 2-2 ahead of the Emirates Durham ICG clash, Stokes is proud to be part of a team that fans can be proud of once again.
“New Zealand were probably the best team in the World Cup until the final and we’ve played some outstanding cricket against the second best team in the world.
“So regardless of what happens tomorrow, we will be leaving here knowing that we’ve made people watch England cricket again,” he said.
“Hopefully we can get that victory and make it an even more special day.
“The cricket we’ve played is the way we want to be playing and we’ve taken really, really big steps forward with the way we are going about our one day cricket.
“Farby (coach Paul Farbrace) has brought a really positive formula with him, and so has Morgy (captain Eoin Morgan). He has always been positive when I’ve played underneath him.??
“We’ve always been telling each other to just go out and play your natural game which is what got you here in the first place.
“The atmosphere in every ground has been fantastic. The amount of runs scored has been brilliant to watch. We’ve been carted around too, but we know that people have really enjoyed it and that’s something we wanted to do.
“It was a fresh slate after the World Cup. To be a part of this fresh England team is really exciting.” ??
