Cutler injured as Bears crash to Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 2-0 on the season with a 29-14 victory over the Chicago Bears in Monday night’s NFL action.

Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz threw for 190 yards and a touchdown, and completed 21 of 34 passes in just his second NFL game.

Ryan Mathews rushed for two scores and the Eagles surged clear in a 13-0 third quarter during which Chicago lost starting quarterback Jay Cutler with a right hand injury.

“I’m feeling really good,” Wentz said. “I usually feel good even when bad plays happen. I’ve just got to keep plugging away. I feel confident.”

As for Cutler, he could now face a spell on the sidelines: “I’m concerned. As a quarterback, you kind of need your right thumb.”

He will undergo further medical tests on Tuesday but must now be considered a major doubt for the trip to the Dallas Cowboys this weekend.
