Johnson enjoys Kent ‘hit-out’

The left-armer took 4-56 from 18 overs in Kent???s first innings and 1-29 from 12 overs in the second innings as Australia wrapped up a 255-run victory at Canterbury on Sunday. ?? ??

Johnson also chipped in with 32 not out and 27 not out with the bat and is now looking forward to the second warm-up game against Essex at Chelmsford this week ahead of the first Ashes Test which starts in Cardiff on July 8.

Johnson told Sky Sports News HQ: “The first two days that we were here we had a couple of days off?? and then we had some training, so I was really keen to get the ball in my hand ??? the Duke ball ??? and then bowl and see the ball swinging and moving off the seam.

“So that was really good for me and then to be able to play that game at Canterbury ??? to be able to get some good pace going, a little bit of swing and bowl the odd short ball here and there on a slower wicket was really encouraging.

“For me personally, I felt like I got what I needed and I think most guys would say the same thing.

“I felt like I had a good rhythm, I was getting that pace back up there and I was able to use the Duke ball and get that feeling in my hand again.

“I got a good 30 overs through the game so that???s a good hit-out, and to be able to score a few runs as well was quite exciting.

“I feel like I got a lot out of this game, so now it???s just wait and see.”
