Mix Gatpandan has been a sports photographer and graphics artist for quite sometime now. He’s been to different sports coverage assignments but nothing thrilled him to the hilt when he was assigned to shoot the WWE Live Manila over the weekend.
Feel the excitement through the eyes of Gatpandan, an avid WWE fan and FOX Sports’ multimedia artist.
I’ve been a wrestling fan since I can remember. It has been a life-long dream to watch a WWE live event, to actually be there, feel the electricity of the crowd and to see these superhero-like athletes in action.
Upon arriving at the venue, right from the parking area, you can see a horde of fans as excited as me lining up. From young kids to adults, you can see the excitement on their faces.
When I entered the Mall of Asia Arena, the energy is electric. As fans fans started finding and settling down on their seats, that’s when WWE started to shake up the whole arena with the opening video. The whole arena exploded in cheers, sobrang goosebumps ako the whole time.
I have covered a lot of different events such as basketball, tennis, MMA and many other sports but I have never seen anything like it. It was full of action, heart-stopping stunts, fan interaction and a pinch of comedic promos. Match after match, hindi nauubos ‘yung energy ng crowd. They were screaming and cheering, making sure that the superstars competing knows how they feel about them and the match itself chanting “This is awesome!”, “Thank you (name of superstar)!” and more. I can’t help but join in and cheer as well.
Though some of the superstars I grew up watching were either retired or have already passed away, I still continue to watch and follow the WWE to this day. It was awesome to watch and see fresh talents with new gimmicks and exciting moves. Sana lang madalas silang mag-show dito sa Pilipinas.
To sum it up, the whole WWE live event experience was surreal.
