Australia A win high-scoring contest

Australia A has defeated India A by one run in extraordinary fashion, with the touring side narrowly falling short of the mammoth target of 323.

Nic Maddinson – who was named Player of the Match – scored 118 in tandem with Kurtis Patterson (115), who scored his first List A century, with the two putting on 229-runs for the second-wicket.

Shardul Thakur finished as the pick of the Indian bolwers with figures of 2 for 50 from his eight overs.

In reply, India A captain Manish Pandey scored a brilliant 110, his second century this series, but it was in vain as his side weren’t able to score the required nine runs from the final over.

India A wicket-keeper Sanju Samson also contributed to his side’s score with a valiant 87 from 74 balls.

India A needed three to win off the last ball but managed only one, with Thakur being run out attempting a second.

Right-arm fast-medium bowler, Daniel Worrall picked up 2 for 57 from ten overs including the prize wicket of Pandey.

Australia A now advances through to the final against India A in a replay of today’s match on Sunday, with the National Performance Squad to play South Africa A tomorrow and again for third spot on Saturday.
