Jones suspended for four games

Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman Arthur Jones has been suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Jones has struggled to stay on the field since signing a five-year, $33m contract in 2014.

He missed seven games in his first season with the Colts with an injured right ankle. He missed all of last season with an injured left ankle he sustained during the pre-season.

The 30-year-old took a pay cut this off-season in order to avoid being released by the team.

Jones won’t be eligible to return to the team until October 3 – one day after their Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London – but will be allowed to participate in training camp and pre-season games.

He becomes the second member of his family to be suspended for PED use after brother Jon, a mixed martial arts fighter who faces a two-year doping suspension after testing positive for oestrogen blockers.
