Wolfe played in every game last year, contributing to a Denver defensive line that allowed 79.8 rushing yards per game, the lowest single-season figure in team history.
He was a shell of himself, however, after missing a good chunk of the 2013 season, which was marked by a seizure on the team bus. Doctors believe that was related to a bruised spinal cord he suffered that pre-season.
Wolfe said in a statement he took medicine this off-season that he didn’t realize was prohibited by the NFL.
“During the off-season I took a medication which is on the banned substance list,” Wolfe said in the statement released by the team.
“The medication is not a substance which would enhance my on-field performance in any way and I genuinely was unaware that it was prohibited, but players are responsible for what is in their bodies.
“I will certainly exercise far greater caution in the future and will seek advice relating to the permissibility of any and all medications.”
Wolfe accounted for 1.5 sacks last season along with a respectable 23 quarterback hurries and is known as a force against the run.??
