The Atlanta Braves have signed veteran pitcher Edwin Jackson on Friday after he was released by the Chicago Cubs.
In 31 appearances with the Cubs this season, Jackson, 31, was 2-1 with a 3.19 earned run average (ERA).
Prior to the 2013 season Jackson signed a 4-year, $50 million contract with the Cubs.
But he was released by Chicago with over $15 million remaining on his contract due to two poor seasons as a starting pitcher.
For now Jackson will make the league minimum salary as he is expected to work out of the bullpen.
In 2009 for the Detroit Tigers was his best season when he went 13-9 with a 3.62 ERA.
