A late run of birdies helped Brooke Henderson to a one-shot lead after 36 holes at the Cambia Portland Classic.
The Canadian teenager birdied three of her last four holes to put a one-shot buffer between herself and Caroline Masson of Germany.
Starting at the tenth tee, Henderson, who fired an opening 66, stuttered early on with a bogey at the 11th, but she rebounded with birdies at the 12th and 14th to take the turn in 35. A further birdie followed at the third before her late run saw her move to 11-under for the tournament, with a birdie-three at the par-four ninth, her last hole, putting Henderson in front.
Masson was the big mover at Columbia Edgewater on Friday, with the German enjoying a bogey-free 64, the low round of the day. Four birdies on the front nine and a further four birdies on the back nine propelled Masson to eight-under for the day and 10-under for the tournament.
Candie Kung (66), Jenny Shin (68), and Julieta Granada (69) are next best on nine-under. Kim Kaufman (67), Hyo Joo Kim (68), and Mo Martin (69) are three shots off the pace on eight-under.
