Simon Willis is set to join the Sri Lankan setup as high performance manager, ending a 23-year association with Kent County Cricket Club.
Willis had been targeted by Sri Lankan cricket after his excellent work for Kent .He has the reputation of being an outstanding educator of coaches, which is said to have driven his appointment to this role with Sri Lankan Cricket looking to Willis to assist with the development of new coaches and young players alike.
There is a strong link between Kent and Sri Lankan cricket. Graham Ford and Paul Farbrace having coached both.
Willis will head up Sri Lanka's national academy and will be tasked with developing talent both on the field as well as behind the scenes, as he works with young players and their coaches in a bid to strengthen the next generation of Sri Lankan cricketers.
Willis said of the appointment: "I see it as an exciting time to get involved with Sri Lanka Cricket and I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together."
Willis will report directly to the CEO of Sri Lankan Cricket and work hand in hand with current head of coaching Jerome Jayaratne.
