Lightning strike to level series

The Tampa Bay Lightning saw off the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 on Friday evening to leave the NHL Eastern Conference Final tied at 2-2.

The Lightning scored in the first minute of the game and moved into a 4-0 lead before Pittsburgh scored three times in the third period to put a scare into the hosts.

Victor Hedman collected three assists for Tampa Bay as Ryan Callahan, Andrej Sustr, Jonathan Drouin and Tyler Johnson found the net for the Lightning – with Callahan’s goal coming after just 27 seconds.

Phil Kessel, Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz hit back to leave Tampa Bay hanging on for the final minutes of the third period but Andrei Vasilevskiy – who made 35 saves on the night – made sure Pittsburgh could not get level.

The series will continue in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
