The St. Louis Blues drew first blood in the Western Conference finals with a 2-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday thanks to Brian Elliott’s incredible 31 saves.
The Sharks outshot the Blues 32-23 but struggled to find a way past an inspired Elliott.
David Backes got the Blues on the board on the powerplay 15:04 into the first period but the lead lasted just 34 seconds before Tomas Hertl replied.
Joel Lehtera’s second goal of the postseason turned out to be the game-winner when he scored nine minutes into the second session.
