Penguins move clear in play-off clash

The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Wednesday night to take a lead a 3-1 lead in their NHL Eastern Conference second round series contest.

Jay Beagle had given the Capitals a first period lead at Consol Energy Center but Trevor Daley levelled before the end of the session and Matt Cullen had the hosts 2-1 ahead.

However, John Carlson levelled matters and after a scoreless third session the decisive moment came in the third minute of overtime when Swede Patric Hornqvist broke through.

The fifth game of the seven-match series is set for Saturday night in Washington.
