The Chiefs were dealt a blow with the news that scrum-half Tawera Kerr-Barlow will be sidelined for a lengthy spell with a hand injury.
According to a Fairfax Media report, Kerr-Barlow broke his hand during his team's 28-27 victory over the Hurricanes in Wellington last weekend when his fist made contact with Aaron Cruden's head during a tackle.
Cruden sustained a cut to his head during the incident but continued to play, as did Kerr-Barlow, only for the fracture to be diagnosed recently.
This is the latest injury suffered by Kerr-Barlow, who also missed a large part of the 2015 season with a knee injury. He also suffered a concussion in the Chiefs' 30-26 victory over the Jaguares earlier this year.
