Tomane believes injury is ‘good’

The Brumbies winger Joe Tomane will be hoping for the best as he awaits medical diagnosis on his injured knee after sustaining a knock against the Crusaders last week.

The Canberra side lost 40-14 to the seven-time champions conceding six tries and only managing to score two.

Tomane, who has scored six tries so far, is jointly, with Sergeal Petersen, in second position as the tournament's overall top try scorer.

The New Zealand-born winger made contact with Crusaders' number seven Matt Todd in the 76th minute and was seen holding his right knee after the collison.

"It should be good," Tomane told Fairfax Media.

"I'm not too sure [what's wrong], but hopefully we'll be right."

"I just tangled up with one of the Crusaders boys. Obviously it was accidental. We just tripped up with each other, just one of those things really. I'll get some scans and [I'm] praying for some good news.

The 26-year-old speedster hopes to continue his fine finishing form in what he believes can help the two-time champions rekindle their title chances.

That's the goal [to play the Highlanders].

"I really want to help the team reignite our season. We've got three losses now in the middle part of the season.

"If we want to be there at the end of the year we've got start winning some games and start stringing some games [together]."

Head coach Stephan Larkham is chosing to see the glass as half full, despite a potential injury loss to not only his try-scoring back, but could potentially have his co-captain, Stephen Moore, joining Tomane on the injured players list.

Moore limped off rather uncomfortably, just after half-time against the Crusaders.

"I think it will give a couple of guys an opportunity," Larkham said.

We've lost Ita [Vaea] for the season and I think we've got able coverage for him in the forward pack," Larkham said.

"In the back line there's a couple of guys who haven't had a lot of game time – Nigel, James Dargaville, Lausii, and Henry's off with the sevens for the time being.

"There's still a couple of guys who haven't had an opportunity, [who] depending on what happens might get an opportunity this week."
