The Pakistan Cricket Board have appointed former batsman and captain Inzamam-ul-Haq as their new chief selector, confirming reports after he resigned from his role as Afghanistan coach on the weekend.
Inzamam was last involved with the Pakistan team in 2013 when he was a batting consultant, and will now head a selection panel that includes Wajahatullah Wasti, Tauseef Ahmed, and Wasim Haider.
Pakistan's recent poor form saw coach Waqar Younis leave his post after the World Twenty20, and Waqar was one of a few people who said Inzamam should be involved in the team's selection process.
For the past few months he has been coaching Afghanistan as they showed a marked improvement under his leadership. While he will not be a coach for the PCB, they will hope his influence has a similar effect.
