Romania name side to face France

Mihai Macovei will captain Romania in their first Rugby World Cup match this Wednesday against France at the Olympic Stadium.

Coach Lynn Howells has named the most experienced Romanian team in the nation's history.

"During our preparation period the boys have all worked very hard," the Welshman told reporters.

"It certainly has been tough to select my best 15 and even harder to tell those not included. The back line has pretty much picked itself with the experience they have, the forwards however have given me more of a headache.

"The first game is always the most important and the lads I’ve picked are in the best shape and used to playing at the top level."
