Pocock should have been red carded

Flanker David Pocock has been cited for alleged foul play in the 48-23 defeat to the Chiefs in Canberra on Saturday.

The 27-year-old back-rower has allegedly contravened Law 10.4 (e) Playing a player without the ball is dangerous play and Law 10.4 (m) Acts contrary to good sportsmanship.

The Wallaby allegedly grabbed the neck of Chiefs number eight Michael Lietch in the 74th minute.

Upon review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed, in his opinion, the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Adam Cassleden.

All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.
