Rams defence dominates Cards

The St Louis Rams beat the Arizona Cardinals 24-22 thanks to a dominant defensive display in Arizona.

The Rams held the NFL's number one offence coming into the game to just 22 points, holding them to field goals on four of five trips inside the red zone.

The Rams also managed to pressure quarterback Carson Palmer, sacking him four times and intercepting him once.

Two further Cardinals turnovers – fumbles from David Johnson on the opening kick-off and Larry Fitzgerald in the second half – resulted in two Rams touchdowns.

Nick Foles threw for three touchdowns, with wide receiver Tavon Austin catching two of them as he finished with an impressive 96 yards on six catches.

Rams' rookie running back Todd Gurley also had good night, rushing for all but two of his 146 yards in the second half as the Rams (2-2) held on to hand the Cardinals (3-1) their first loss of the season.
