Jin books spot at Augusta

Conor McGregor tells hockey player to ‘put him through the net!’

Jin Cheng will turn out at the 2016 Masters at Augusta after winning the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Hong Kong.

The final round of play at the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club was abandoned due to heavy rain and strong winds caused by Typhoon Mujigae, leaving third-round leader Cheng to be crowned champion.

The Chinese golfer saw off the challenge of the Australian duo of Cameron Davis and Ryan Ruffels by one stroke after moving to eleven under after 54 holes.

The 17-year-old set up the victory with a superb chip at the 18th on Saturday which allowed him to finish with a birdie on what would prove to be his final hole.

"I was thinking of playing golf [on Sunday], so I didn't really think that would be the winning shot," he said.

"This win just came so fast and so sudden. I was ready for the round today, and unfortunately the weather didn't work out."

In addition to a spot at the Masters, Jin has secured a place in the final round of qualifying for the 2016 Open Championship which will be held at Royal Troon.
