The Rebels captain Sean McMahon has lauded his side's determination as the difference in their 25-23 victory over the Reds.
Although being outscored by two tries to one, the Rebels led for large periods and held on on for a much needed win – their first of the season.
"The Reds were out to smash us and put us on the back foot and we put in a real gutsy effort. I couldn’t be more proud of them," said McMahon.
Reds captain Rob Simmons blamed his side's lack of discipline for the loss.
"We knew we were right in it right through the whole game and it was just our discipline that let us down from the start to finish," he said.
Simmons was proud of the manner in which his side performed, however.
"But I’m really proud of the guys but that’s the start and we have to get better again," he added.
The Red will host the Blues in Brisbane and the Rebels will be travelling to Tokyo to face the Sunwolves next week.
