Dominique Arribagé has resigned from his post as coach of Ligue 1 strugglers Toulouse following the team’s 2-1 loss at home to Rennes on Saturday.
Arribagé resigned after the club’s latest defeat, which has left them second from bottom, 10 points from safety, with 22 points after 28 games.
Although Toulouse president, President Sadran, admits that they do not have a succession plan to replace the departed coach, it is understood that Arribagé will return to his role in the club’s recruitment team.
“Dominique Arribagé is no longer the TFC coach, but he is staying at the club,” Toulouse president Olivier Sadran told reporters.
“His resignation was decided in full consultation. There is no plan B for now. We want to reconstruct and get a new dynamic going.
“I am the first person responsible for the situation, but we’re not dead yet. I want to take the time to reconstruct and I will not be hurried into appointing a new coach.
“The biggest error? Maybe not seeing this situation coming. Am I thinking about leaving my job? I’m passionate about sport and I’ll not let that go.”
Toulouse’s next game is on Sunday, 6 March against Marseille away from home.
