“Sobrang sama ng laro namin.”
That was how Adamson coach Sherwin Meneses described his wards’ performance after they sputtered against La Salle in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.
Despite having a week to study the Lady Spikers’ set plays, the Lady Falcons could not receive the ball well enough to mount a serious challenge.
“Yung 1st ball talaga. Napakasama nung receive namin eh. Masama yung combination ng attack namin. Pangit eh,” Meneses said.
“Siyempre pag La Salle, alam naman natin kailangan 1st ball mo maganda, service mo maganda, coverage mo maganda. Eh pangit yung nangyari. Kaya yung strategy namin hindi nagwork,” the coach said with disappointment.
“Siyempre malungkot yung team. Pero sabi ko nga marami pang laro at makakabawi kami. Mahaba pa naman ang UAAP,” he said.
Adamson faces youthful UP next and with their recent slide, the Lady Falcons will be hard-pressed to beat the Lady Maroons.
Against the Diliman side, Meneses is a little optimistic.
“Magte-training lang kami for UP. Iba naman yung sitwasyon dun. Mahaba pa naman ang UAAP.” — By Arylle Magtalas
