San Miguel Beermen center June Mar Fajardo took advantage of their 5 days off after winning the franchise’s 22nd PBA title in a stirring come-from-behind fashion as he went home to Cebu and spend time with his family.
“Nakauwi ako dalawang araw. Wala naman ako masyadong ginawa. Nagpahinga sa bahay lang, bonding kila mama,” Fajardo told FOX Sports during their victory party on Wednesday night at the SMC headquarters in Mandaluyong.
His parents and younger brother were with him during the party. They are scheduled to fly back to Cebu Friday.
“Sobrang saya namin. Sa bahay lang kami nanood. Grabe ang nerbiyos ko nung Game 7 pero thanks talaga kay Lord at nanalo sila,” said Marites, Fajardo’s mother.
The change of scenery and breath of fresh air at the comfort of their home in Pinamungajan, Cebu reinvigorated the back-to-back MVP who was hampered by a left knee injury at the start of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.
While given a 3-week rest following his gallant performance despite not being 100 percent during the last 3 games of the finals, Fajardo is hoping to play in their conference opener.
“Hindi ko pa alam eh. Pero sana, sana makalaro ako. Gusto ko ng maglaro,” Fajardo said.
The Beermen will be the last team to debut in the Commissioner’s Cup as they are scheduled to meet the Mahindra Enforcers in Binan, Laguna on Feb. 20.
