De La Salle University unleashed a balanced offensive attack to blank Far Eastern University, 29-27, 25-23, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Four Lady Spikers finished with at least 8 points, as the Taft squad toyed with a porous Lady Tamaraws defense with 48 kills.
Mika Reyes led all scorers with 13 points off 12 hits and a block while former MVP Ara Galang made a triumphant return to the UAAP with 10 markers — all off kills.
The match was close in the first two sets, with FEU sticking it close to the Seasons 76 and 77 runners-up.
But the Lady Tamaraws were unable to take advantage of several set points before falling in the third frame, as Carol Cerveza and rookie May Luna put on the finishing touches.
Cerveza, now in a regular starting role, had 10 points even as Majoy Baron added 8 for La Salle, who drew 35 excellent sets from Kim Fajardo.
Sophomore Toni Rose Basas led the Morayta spikers with 13 points while Rem Palma had 12.
