New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis has been diagnosed with a bruised lower back after diving into the stands on Friday night.
The incident occurred early in the first quarter of the Pelicans’ 91-86 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Davis was trying to chase down a rebound that had been deflected towards the sidelines and, while he did manage to save it, he ended up injuring himself in the process.
Davis did remain on the court for a few more seconds after hurling himself into the stands before he left and went into the locker room for treatment.
Davis underwent an X-ray, but it came back negative, which will allow the Pelicans to breathe a sigh of relief as the 22-year-old has by far been their best player this season.
In the 32 games he had played this season, Davis is averaging 22.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.3 steals.
