Chinese badminton star Lin Dan has voiced his support for long time rival Lee Chong Wei.
Malaysian world number one Chong Wei has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for banned substance dexamethasone.
The two shuttlers have met 31 times since 2004, and two-time Olympic champion Lin has dominated their encounters with a winning record of 22-9.
The Chinese star said: "I hope Chong Wei will come back to court as soon as possible. Not only Malaysia need him, but the whole badminton world also need him."
Lin was speaking after breezing into the second-round match of the China Open in Fuzhou, with a 21-15, 23-21 victory over Chinese Taipei's Hsu Jen-hao.
Chinese National Badminton Team Li Yongbo echoed Dan's sentiment, saying: "I hope Lee' s scandal is not real, because I still want to see the Lin-Lee rivalry. They always bring the great matches to the fans."
