Pochettino: Keeping faith

Pochettino admits he is happy to be playing at home on a Saturday for the first time this season and his side will be looking to improve their poor form at White Hart Lane when they take on Crystal Palace.

The Argentine will also be hoping Kane can continue his impressive form against the Eagles who supposedly tried to sign the England U21 striker on loan.

There has also been speculation that midfielder Christian Eriksen has signed a new deal at Tottenham but his manager said he had no news to reveal on that front.??

“I didn’t know Palace tried to sign Kane,” said Pochettino. “Nobody told me. I always wanted to keep him. I always believed in him and his form is proving me right.

“Eriksen new contract? Maybe. It’s speculation though. I have no information. I’m happy with him. He’s young and will improve.

“Adebayor has had a hamstring injury, back injury and virus. Ade says today he feels too weak to play. He is part of my plans for the future. Just media speculation that he’s leaving. I have a very good relationship with him. I understand him.”

Jan Vertonghen has also come under fire from former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood but Pochettino was keen to shrug off this criticism and praise his defender.

“Sherwood says Vertonghen can’t defend? I don’t read the comments,” he said “I’m very happy with Jan. He’s very important for us. He was the best centre-back in England in his first season. Maybe last season not as good.”
