England bowl first and face old foe

Senanayake, cleared barely 24 hours previously to bowl again after modifying his action, was fast-tracked back into the hosts’ line-up after Rangana Herath hurt his hamstring at nets.

Off-spinner Senanayake was centre stage in controversy at Edgbaston last summer, for running out Jos Buttler backing up out of his ground.

England, 3-1 down with three to play in this series, made two changes to a losing team – captain Alastair Cook back after his ban and James Tredwell returning too, for Alex Hales and Ben Stokes respectively.

Cook won the toss and chose to bowl first.
