On Matchday 2 of AFC Cup 2019, Iloilo-based Kaya FC-Iloilo will host Singapore’s Home United after both the teams walked out with a 1-1 draw against PSM Makassar and Lao Toyota respectively.
Currently settled at the top of the table, Kaya FC don’t shy away from acknowledging the tough battle that lies ahead of them. However, the team looks confident ahead of the encounter and believes that they will be prepared for the second fixture.
Although Kaya F.C. are making an appearance in AFC Cup after two-year hiatus, head coach Noel Marcaida implied that the hosts have done their homework.
Confident in the unity amongst the members of his team, Marcaida said, “We really need the players to step up especially those who come from Bacolod, so we expect their good performance. The team’s strength is the camaraderie. My boys have big heart for the game. They always make sure they are ready going into the game. It’s the brotherhood of Kaya FC that boosts our morale.”
“Every time we played in Bacolod, we have a good performance and we have great memories here. That motivates us, we learned from our mistakes”, he added.
Home United, on the other hand, will have to ensure that over-confidence doesn’t take a toll on their performance in tomorrow’s match. The current bearers of Singapore Community Shield will look to pick their first win in AFC Cup 2019 over their hosts in order to announce their arrival in the ongoing tournament and build momentum for their upcoming fixtures.
