Carmelo Anthony was on top form for the Knicks, but his 28 points was not enough to snap the respective streaks of the two teams – six wins for the Raptors and five straight losses for the Knicks.
The Cleveland Cavaliers eased to a 105-91 win over the Memphis Grizzlies with LeBron James top scoring with 25 points and 11 assists. But it was reserve guard Dion Waiters everyone was talking about as Waiters scored 21 off the bench. Adding to the tally was Kyrie Irving's 17 points and 12 assists.
The Miami Heat snapped their losing streak with an emphatic 100-84 victory over the Boston Celtics at home. Miami's win was made all the more impressive due to the absence of three starters: Chris Bosh, Josh McRoberts and guard Dwyane Wade. Luol Deng top scored for the Celtics with his 23 points, while James Ennis scored 16. Center Tyler Zeller's top scored for Boston, with 22 points.
The Brooklyn Nets eased to a 110-105 victory over the Detroit Pistons at Barclays Center. Mason Plumlee starred with his 21 points, 12 rebounds and his fourth double-double. Guard Jarrett Jack also added a double-double, scoring 15 points and 10 assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Andre Drummond added 20 points apiece for the Cavaliers, but it was not enough.
The Phoenix Suns were explosive from the third quarter of their 104-92 victory over the Washington Wizards. The teams were tied on 50 at half time, but Goran Dragic added 12 of his 16 points in the third quarter to help his side to victory. Markieff Morris and guard Eric Bledsoe each scored 17 points for the victors, while Rasual Butler top scored for the Wizards with his 17 points.
The Philadelphia 76ers posted only their third victory of the season with their 96-88 victory over the Orlando Magic. Michael Carter Williams top scored with 21 points, while Nerlens Noel added 13 points and 12 rebounds. The result was all the more impressive as Philadelphia trailed by 11 points early in the second half, before rallying.
The Sacramento Kings stormed to a 108-101 victory over the beleaguered LA Lakers in their match up at the Sleep Train Arena. DeMarcus Cousins top scored with 29 points, while Ben McLemore added 23. Nick Young starred for the Lakers with his 26 points. The two sides kept switching the lead, but in the end the youthful Lakers side couldn't settle.
The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 101-99 in their hard-fought matchup at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Anthony Davis was the star of the show with his solo 38 points and 12 rebounds. Even though Kevin Durant was still out for the Thunder, they were helped along by Russell Westbrook scoring 29 points. Westbrook also added eight assists, but he is missed three pointer had some fans muttering.
The Indiana Pacers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-96 in their thrilling meeting in Minneapolis. C.J. Miles was the top scorer for Indiana with 28, despite coming off the bench. Minnesota's guards added their best points tallies on the night with 24 points coming from Mo Williams, and Shabazz Muhammad adding 21.
