A pair of backhanded goals lifted the Penguins to a 4-3 shootout triumph over the Canadiens.
David Perron and Sidney Crosby both beat Montreal goaltender Mike Condon as the Penguins completed the come-from-behind win.
It ended a run of three straight losses for the Penguins when trailing at the start of the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Teddy Purcell's goal 1:16 into overtime gave the Edmonton Oilers a 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
Overtime came after a wild third period which saw four goals – two for each team as Edmonton came from behind three times in the contest.
