Packers waiting on Rodgers

Rodgers has been struggling with a calf injury suffered against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16 but Packers coach Mike McCarthy expects him to return to action on Thursday, usually a critical session in game-planning.

“I plan on Aaron playing on Sunday,” McCarthy said.??”Today’s schedule was for him to stay exclusively in the training room. It’s day-to-day.”

Rodgers has been taking all the reps in walk-throughs and McCarthy added: “Mentally, he’s right on top of it.”

Their Sunday opponents are also dealing with a significant list of injury concerns, chief among them linebacker Rolando McClain.

McClain sustained a concussion in the exciting win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday and reportedly will not be able to practice until Friday at the earliest – he will also have to pass a series of concussion protocols to be allowed to play.

Offensive lineman Doug Free, linebacker Anthony Hitchens (both ankle) and defensive end Jeremy Mincey (concussion) all missed Cowboys practice as well.

And the Carolina Panthers suffered a serious blow on Wednesday when defensive lineman Star Lotulelei was ruled out for the rest of the play-offs with a fractured foot.
