Manchester City are in talks to sign the Ivory Coast international, who has been a huge success since joining the Swans in the summer of 2013.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Monk says he does not know how close the sides are to agreeing a deal for Bony but appeared fairly resigned to losing his top scorer.
???Obviously there are talks between the two clubs and at this moment in time it is ongoing,??? he said.
???As far as I am concerned, it is what it is right now.
???It is obviously out there for everyone to see. Unless agreement is made and the club are happy with everything, I guess it will stay ongoing.
???I don???t know the actual inner details between the two. That is what you leave to the chairman and the club.
???Obviously they have talked about fees but, whether they are close or far apart is unclear at the moment. I don???t know whether the valuation has been met that Swansea want.
???It is important that, whatever player we sell, it reaches the valuation Swansea hold and I think that will be the case in this instance.???
Bony has just flown out to begin preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations and Monk says it is no surprise that the player is in demand.
???He’s been top quality,??? said the manager. ???You have seen for yourselves what he contributes to the games.
???It was a risk on behalf of the club as he was untried at this level and he had a tough start to his time here, not playing many games,
???But, since he has had that run of games, and felt he was a big part of the squad, we have seen what he can do.
???He has done tremendously well for us. He???s a great person and he is one of our best trainers, and best players.???
