Maria Sharapova is in the fourth round of Roland Garros after disposing of Karolína Plíšková in emphatic fashion.
Despite losing their only previous encounter prior to Saturday, sixth seeded Pliskova was stacked as the heavy favourite over 28th seeded Sharapova.
The first game of the match was won by Pliskova but it was all Sharapova after that as she only dropped two more games, winning 6-2, 6-1.
As expected both players stood at the back of the court and hit the ball hard as hard as they could.
It was Sharapova who was more accurate though, constantly moving Pliskova around the court while the Czech was unable to put Sharapova under any pressure.
As impressive as the Russian’s performance was, her serve was far from convincing and might well prove her downfall as the tournament moves into the business end.
Earlier in the day there were wins for Sloane Stephens, Garbine Muguruza, Lesia Tsurenko and Anett Kontaveit over Camila Giorgi, Sam Stosur, Magdaléna Rybáriková and Petra Kvitova respectively.
