Bouchard fails to qualify for Roland Garros

Eugenie Bouchard

Eugenie Bouchard’s torrid time on the tennis court shows no signs of slowing down after she failed to qualify for Roland Garros this week.

The 2014 Wimbledon finalist retired while trailing Dalila Jakuopovic of Slovenia 6-0, 2-1 in the first round of French Open qualifying on Wednesday.

Bouchard was forced to try and qualify for Roland Garros as her current ranking of 167th in the world – down from as high as fifth less than four years ago – was well short of earning her direct entry into a Grand Slam.

But the Canadian was unable to force her way into the draw, meaning this mark the first time since the 2013 Australian Open that she will not compete in a Grand Slam.
