Halep got a break early in the first set and in the end that was enough to clinch the set even though the Belgium made it very difficult for her.
In the second set both players struggled with their serves but Halep broke twice and closed the match out in 79-minutes to win in straight sets.
The win was a good one for the Romanian, against a player that she has lost against in their three previous meetings.
This will be Halep’s second last-eight appearance at Melbourne Park.
Halep faces Russia's Ekaterina Makarova for a place in the semi-finals.
