Dimitrov avoids any Miami slip-ups

Grigor Dimitrov avoided any slip-ups at the Miami Open after safely progressing to the third round of the tournament.

On a day when Novak Djokovic was humbled in the second round, number three seed Dimitrov fought back from a set down to overcome Maximilian Marterer 4-6 6-2 6-1.

Indian Wells champion Juan Martin del Potro also required three sets to get the better of Robin Haase after a 6-4 5-7 6-2 victory.

Del Potro will now face Kei Nishikori in the third round after he beaten John Millman 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.

Milos Raonic served 16 aces in a straightforward 6-3, 6-3 win over Sweden’s Mikael Ymer.

But there were several seeds who suffered an early exit at the tournament, including Roberto Bautista Agut, Feliciano Lopez, Richard Gasquet, Gilles Muller and Andrey Rublev.
