Injured Kyrgios confirms his season is over

Nick Kyrgios xác nhận anh sẽ nghỉ đến hết mùa giải vì chấn thương

Nick Kyrgios will miss the rest of the season through injury after joining a growing list of top players on the treatment table.

Kyrgios suffered a recurrence of his troublesome hip injury during defeat to Ruben Bemelmans at the European Open, in Antwerp, after being plagued by the problem during the grass court season.

The 22-year-old confirmed on Twitter that he will miss the rest of 2017 with the issue after another inconsistent campaign.

Kyrgios becomes the latest big name player on the ATP Tour to be sidelined after the likes of Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori have all found themselves ruled out with injuries.

“Unfortunately due to the recurrence of my hip injury that I originally suffered at Queen’s, I am shutting down my season to make sure I can rehab and prepare as best as I can for the Australian summer,” said Kyrgios.

“I have played a huge amount of tennis since coming back from my hip injury in Washington and unless I want this to escalate to an injury that requires surgery, I need to listen to my body and my team.

“This year hasn’t been as successful as I would have liked, especially at the Slams, although it has been positive in some other areas.”
