Elina Svitolina made the Rogers Cup final on Saturday after a dominant straight sets victory over defending champion Simona Halep.
The number five seed gave up just a single game in each set as she reached her fifth final of the year.
It was a ruthless performance from the Ukrainian, who was perhaps still thinking of the duo’s last meeting, when Halep came back from a set and 5-1 down to win 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-0 in the French Open quarterfinals.

Svitolina, who rallied from a set down to beat Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza in her semi-final earlier in the day, never give Halep a chance as she muscled her way to the decider 6-1, 6-1 in just 57 minutes.
Svitolina will now face Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki in the final after she ended the run of Sloane Stephens in straight sets.
Wozniacki, the 2010 champion, will be gunning for her first title of 2017 while Svitolina will be looking for a fifth.
