Sharapova: Things will change in Madrid

Sharapova's comments come after she has lost three matches in a row, which came against Flavia Pennetta during the fourth round at Indian Wells, Daria Gavrilova during her Miami opener and Angelique Kerber in her Stuttgart opener.

While she was unable to win the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart for the fourth consecutive year, Sharapova has made it clear that losing is not an option for her during the Madrid Open since she is the reigning champion.

When asked what she had been doing to ensure she doesn't fall victim to another early exit, Sharapova told the official WTA site: "Just training physically, just getting that cardio back. That's really important, especially for clay."
