Second seed Paolo Lorenzi joined Dominic Thiem in exiting the Antalya Open after going down in straight sets to Radu Albot.
The Moldovan broke once in each set to secure a 6-3, 6-4 victory in one hour and 21 minutes, moving on to contest his first ever ATP World Tour quarter-final.
Lorenzi has always struggled on grass and it was no different on Wednesday, as he sunk to his 11th straight defeat on the surface.
It's the second big upset in Antalya after hot favourite Thiem fell to Indian qualifier Ramkumar Ramanathan in his opening match on Tuesday.
Albot moves on to face Andreas Seppi, who battled back from a set down to defeat Janko Tipsarevic 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Others to advance on the day included Daniel Altmaier and Yuichi Sugita.
Sugita eliminated another top player in David Ferrer, dismissing the fourth seed 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2).
