Angelique Kerber has withdrawn from this week's Aegon Classic in Birmingham due to injury, casting doubt on her Wimbledon appearance.
The world number one has endured a difficult 2017, reaching just one final where she lost and has been bundled out early in both grand slams.
The tough times seem to be continuing, as Kerber is struggling with a left hamstring strain and has been forced out of the event.
"It started slowly and then I really felt it yesterday [Saturday] evening…it is my left hamstring, the same one I had in Madrid,” the German told Sky Sports.
"It was OK and I started practising again after Paris and then I felt it again in the last few days. I don't want to risk anything now, to do something [worse]."
Kerber is pencilled in for the Aegon International in Eastbourne starting 25 June, which precedes Wimbledon, as she attempts to regain some form before the grass court major.
