Double Wimbledon champ Petra Kvitova has returned to the practice court as she continues her comeback from injuries suffered in a December knife attack.
The 27-year-old Czech suffered a career-threatening hand injury to her left hand when she was attacked and stabbed by an intruder at her home in Prostejov in the Czech Republic. The attack left her with nerve and tendon damage.
Kvitova posted a photo of her practicing in Monaco on Facebook.
"I hope this picture makes you as happy as it makes me," wrote the world number 15.
"I am in Monaco and guess what? I'm back on the tennis court, hitting with some proper balls."
Kvitova was expected to be out for at least six months, but said last month that she has an outside chance of returning in time for Roland Garros which starts on 28 May.
She announced that she has submitted an entry to the French Open, but may not be sufficiently recovered to take part.
