Zverev shocks birthday boy Stan in Miami

Alexander Zverev came from a set down to defeat Stan Wawrinka and book a place in the quarter-finals at the Miami Open on Tuesday.

The talented teenager beat the 32-year-old three-time Grand Slam champion 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 on Wawrinka's birthday, to set up a last eight tie with Australia’s Nick Kyrgios, who defeated David Goffin of Belgium 7-6(7-5), 6-3.

Zverev triumphed despite playing a marathon three tiebreaker match against big-serving American John Isner just a day earlier.

"I played well in the second and third," Zverev said. "I turned it around a little bit. I had to be aggressive."

The German, who turns 20 next month, won 26 of the 36 points in the final set.

Wawrinka’s compatriot Roger Federer continued his excellent form this season, beating Roberto Bautista Agut in two tiebreaks.

Federer, who has a 16-1 record this year, won 7-6(7-5), 7-6(7-4) to set up a quarter-final clash with Tomas Berdych, who beat Adrian Mannarino of France 6-3, 7-5.
