Kei Nishikori advanced to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open following a three set win over Federico Delbonis on Tuesday.
The Japanese superstar survived a second set comeback to defeat Delbonis 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in a touch over two hours on the sunbaked hard courts of Miami.
The duo swapped service games in the opening set until Nishikori took advantage of the first breakpoint of the match to go 4-3 up.
After consolidating the break, Nishikori again found himself in charge at broke once more to take the set.
But the powerful Argentine bounced back, breaking early and holding serve to force a deciding set.
It looked as though Delbonis was on track to record and upset when he broke early again, but Nishikori broke back twice to seal the win.
